Q: Where do you come from?
A: Bangor in Northern Ireland.

Q: When did you go on your working holiday?
A: 5/2011-5/2012.

Q: Where did you go for your working holiday and why?
A: I did three working holidays - in Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand. The reason is just because I like to move around, experience different cultures and become nomadic. In Hong Kong, I stayed for a full year.

Q: What kinds of jobs did you do, and what kinds of courses did you take during your working holiday?
A: I mostly did bar work - I prefer to work in the customer service industry. But I also worked in farming, in schools as a teacher and doing some PR (Public Relations) work. My first job in Hong Kong was in an Irish Pub in Tsim Sha Tsui and I loved it. I later moved into teaching English, as it's a common and easy job to get for any foreigner in Hong Kong.

Q: Tell us one of your most unforgettable memories in your working holiday.
A: I have so many positive memories. Working in the Irish Pub in Hong Kong was brilliant as I got to meet so many different types of people. I also dressed as Santa Claus in a Kindergarten in Hong Kong and we toured Ocean Park and the Peak with all the children.

Q: What is the greatest reward you have got from your working holiday?
A: The greatest reward is just the gift of having lived in a Chinese speaking environment which is historic and culturally rich. You learn so much about their culture and you feel every day is an education.

Q: Can you give 3 tips for young people who wish to visit the working holiday destination of your choice?
A:
1)
Be confident and ready for anything
2)
Meet as many people as you can
3)
Use your working holiday as a springboard for more travels and adventures in the future

Q: Is there any extra thing you would like to tell us?
A: Try to stay in Kowloon or the New Territories if you can. I find Hong Kong Island a very over-worked and chaotic place where people seem to value money and work more than family and friends. Don't fall into that trap - live your own life of freedom.
